Wine to enjoy this summer
As voted for by team Mahi
It’s no secret we’re partial to a good glass (or four) of wine at Mahi, especially during a nice evening after work or accompanying an afternoon barbecue at the weekend; we’ve even been known to enjoy a bit of wine tasting for team social events. So, all that to say, we consider ourselves quite the wine connoisseurs, even if the bottle does seem to empty at an impressive rate. In this latest Mahi roundup, we presented our team with one important question: “what’s your current favourite wine?” Here are three we could all agree on:
Grove Mill Marlborough Chardonnay 2019
Obviously we couldn’t not include a New Zealand wine in this roundup! A good Kiwi Chardonnay is defined by its fruity flavours, zestiness and notes of oak - and this one has definitely delivered. With notes of green-apple, melon and passionfruit, it offers excellent quality with a price that’s very hard to beat.
Stéphane Aviron, Beaujolais Quincié 2020
Enjoy Merlot? Then add this Beaujolais to your list. From Quincié, eastern France, renowned as one of the finest Beaujolais villages, offers flavours of raspberry with a clean finish. Crack a bottle of this open at your next barbecue for the perfect accompaniment to red meat and seafood.
Mahi, The Alias Sauvignon Blanc 2016
...because we can’t resist featuring our namesake wine! Made from hand-picked grapes grown in the Conder’s Bend area of Marlborough, New Zealand comes this complex, textured wine perfect for those end-of-summer BBQs.
Nyetimber Brut Classic Cuvée NV
Think English sparkling wine could never live up to Champagne? Think again. This full-flavoured sparkling wine is aged for over three years and is bold, fruity and clean and makes for a great drink whether you’re toasting a celebration or kicking back on a summer’s evening. We’d even go as far as to say we’ve been converted - we’d pick this over Champagne any day!
